Stain Prevention Tips

We’ve all had those moments, where it feels like life goes into slow motion as you watch a spill unfold. Unfortunately, accidents happen. And our carpeting is often the collateral damage.

There’s some silver lining to accompany those clumsy moments, though. With some quick action and a backup plan you can usually redeem your carpeting to its pre-accident luster. It just takes some knowledge (and sometimes, some professional help!).

Three Steps to Combat Carpet Stains

Okay, so you’ve dropped a glass of wine, or your pup has tromped in with muddy paws, or a member of your family slipped up when clearing the dishes. It happens. And when it does, you’ll want to follow these steps:

  • Stay on top of things
A spill isn’t a problem you want to ignore; the longer it sits, the trickier it will be to remove.
  • Dab, don’t rub
Stains will settle the more you rub them in. Reject the urge to wipe the stain and instead pat the area with clean paper towels. This will remove excess liquid and prevent the stain from holding. After removing most of the residual liquid, you may want to also dab in cold water to dilute and remove the stain as best you can.
  • Know when to call for backup
Some spills can be cleaned with a quick cleanup job. Others (think wine, dirt, sauces, and most synthetics) will require extra TLC – and the expertise of someone who has the equipment to get the job done.

With this three step plan, you can be prepared to face stains head-on. Precision Carpet Care & Restoration delivers the expertise your interior needs to be beautiful, clean, and sanitary… no matter what curveballs come your way!
